The store is open

Last week, I wrote about the benefits of escaping the digital space by turning our images into physical prints. How sharing an image online has vast reach but a very short shelf life coupled with a tiny amount of time spent appreciating it. A physical print hung on a wall is the inverse. No mass reach but thanks to the advanced, gallery-quality inks now available, a shelf life of 200 years. Be it a centre piece of a room/office, a time stamp of a historic event, an emotional teleport to a special place once visited, or simply something that stirs one’s imagination, a print offers more than an online image carelessly glanced before swiping away.

If I’d posted this on my socials, would anyone have been interested? No.

On our wall though, visitors are curious. Why? Because the car is on the drive and the lady is most probably cooking them incredible, aromatic food from her global travels. They are intrigued where she was and what stories of adventure it might reveal. It prompts questions and conversation.

Not all images tell a story. Some tease the story.

Since writing last week’s blog, I’ve had people ask me if I’d make a print for them. Well, I am excited and nervous in equal measure, to announce the opening of my online print store. For the foreseeable future, all prints will be hand printed by me. There are several reasons why I’m not initially using an established print lab.

  1. To keep the cost down to the client.

  2. To retain quality control over the finished product before shipping.

  3. I have traveled great distances, invested countless hours, climbed mountains and forgone sleep/food/water to create them. I want to ensure they go out the door as an accurate representation of that experience.

Currently, there are several Open Edition and one Limited Edition print available.

More images will be added over the coming months, both Open and Limited.

As is tradition, there is an opening sale. All Open Edition prints are reduced by £50 (approx $67) for a limited time. Click here to visit the store.

Enjoy.
